Welcome

Hello classmates,

Welcome to our group's lesson plan blog. Our lesson plan's format is called: Madeleine Hunter's with a Twist! We are using Madeleine Hunter's 7 Step format, but we are switching the order of some steps and adding one final reflection step called: Metacognitive Review.

As you can see, our top menu shows tabs with the weekdays. You will find the materials and activity instructions for each day under each page. All you have to do is click on the weekday, go over the materials, and post your response in a comment box at the bottom of the page. Please make sure you post your comments to the blog, NOT to Bb discussion board. We are using this blog to make sure you have easy access to the links, videos and articles we are sharing with you, and to keep the topic of our conversations organized. When posting your comment you will be prompted to open a Blogger account. Please take the time to open a Blogger account. We understand opening accounts is not everyones' favorite task, but we really think it will save us all time in the end.

*If you already have a Blogger account, and you use a nickname instead of your real name, please make sure to let us know who you are when commenting, so that we can know to whom we are responding to.

Thank you in advance for reading and following our instructions. We really hope you enjoy our lesson. Now let's begin using our metacognitive skills!

Learning Objectives:

1. SWBAT understand and explain metacognition, problem solving and the Flow theory.
2. SWBAT define and use the given keywords appropriately.
3. SWBAT apply the theories in practice.

Lesson Plan:

Monday

      1.     Anticipatory Set: This includes instructions on this page and
this lesson plan’s format overview.
2.     Lesson Objectives.
      3.      Review: Background Knowledge: What do you know about these theories so far?
      4.     Input and Modeling: Watch our presentation video (two parts). It explains the three perspectives/theories and analyses its applications.

Tuesday & Wednesday

      5.     Check for understanding: After watching a video and reading an article share with us your understanding of the theories by performing a brief activity.

Thursday

      6.     Guided Practice: With our guide, solve a problem and reflect about your own metacognition and problem solving abilities.

Friday

      7.     Independent Practice: Show how you used your metacognition skills to learn the meaning of certain terms.

Saturday

      8.     Metacognitive Review: One final step to make sure you deeply understood this week’s theories.

Sunday
Because we started our discussion on Monday we will not post activities for Sunday. Instead, make sure you finish reading the following chapters using your learned metacognitive skills. We wish you a great learning experience full of FLOW.
